Florida Executive Order 20-72 Prohibiting Non-Emergent Medically Unnecessary Care: Effective March 20, 2020

Executive Order 20-72 says that all “hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, office surgery centers, dental, orthodontic and endodontic offices, and other health care practitioners’ offices in the state of Florida are prohibited from providing any medically unnecessary, non-urgent or non-emergency procedure or surgery which, if delayed, does not place a patients immediate health, safety or well-being at risk, or will, if delayed, not contribute to the worsening of a serious or life-threatening medical condition.”

This order comes shortly after Executive Order 20-71, found herein which the governor suspended all in-restaurant dining and fitness facilities.

The series of orders, culminates in the latest Executive Order by Governor DeSantis, Executive 20-91, which issues a state-wide stay at home/shelter in place directive, to expire on April 30, 2020.
